Are you living your life to the fullest? Have you ever felt you’re just going through the motions and letting other people run your life? Or perhaps you don’t feel like you’re doing meaningful things with your life.
You’re not alone.
I’ve felt that way. Along with millions of other people. Perhaps everyone at one point or another in their life has asked these questions.
That’s okay. But it’s not okay for you to stay feeling that way because you matter and what you do with your life matters.
What you do or don’t do in life affects your future, the people around you, and the world we live in. Sounds crazy, but look up the butterfly effect. If you don’t feel fulfilled in your life, that means something is missing or you’re hitting the wrong target.
Guess what? It’s fixable.
Discover how to live your life to the fullest
Do a self-evaluation
Take an assessment of your life today. You can do a mental note or write down on a piece of paper and write down what are things in your life that you’re unhappy about. What would you like to see change? Are there any people that add to your unhappiness?
On the other side of the paper, jot down what makes you happy. What are things or activities you like doing that you’d like to implement on your life?
Now, imagine how your life is like if you’re living your best life. How does that look like? How does it feel?
Having a self-evaluation is important to know exactly where you are now and where you need to be and how you can bridge that gap. This is an important step to living your life to the fullest so don’t skip it!
Start with your health
Health is a big thing. Taking care of yourself is HUGE! Without good health, it will be hard to do what you love.
When you don’t feel good about yourself, you’ll have a low self-esteem. If you have low self-esteem, you will shy away from doing what you love.
I’ve been there. I was 30 lbs heavier before and I didn’t feel good about myself. Lately, I’ve been eating better, drinking more water and taking care of my body. This is the BEST investment I could ever do for myself.
Taking care of your body is taking care of your future. It’s ensuring that you’ll be able to do what you want instead of being in the hospital in other people’s hands.
Finding your calling
In my post, My Battle with Anxiety and Depression (And What Has Helped), I wrote,
“It’s knowing the purpose that has given me light during the darkest moments. Knowing that I’m placed here on earth for a purpose and I have a mission to complete, is what keeps me going.”
I still agree with that statement. When you find out what your purpose in life is, it has the power to unlock a treasure.
We all have different callings. If you don’t know your purpose or calling, you will need to uncover that. To find out your calling, find out what you’re good at or what you love to do or what makes you feel good. When you feel like you’re doing something that fully satisfy your soul, then you’ve hit the jackpot!
Once you know your calling, it’s time to be intentional with your time. Schedule an hour a week that relates to your purpose. Call it your “passion time”.
If you love helping people, find the nearest shelter and volunteer an hour of your time. If you love fashion, learn how to sew from Youtube videos.
Prioritizing what you love and care about is important to living your life to the fullest.
Now, before you cancel all events this weekend you also have to be realistic with your schedule.
When I started blogging, I didn’t have much time to devote. I started with 15 minutes a day to learn and research about blogging. Once I did more of it, my passion grew even further for it. Therefore, dedicating more time to it. At times, I sacrificed other areas so that I could spend more time blogging because I love it so much.
Check your schedule and see what you can change so that you can include more of what you love into your schedule. Try 15 minutes a day for the first week and, after assessing whether you want to keep going, shorten or lengthen it.
Fill yourself with gratitude
To start living life to the fullest, practicing gratitude is an important addition to your lifestyle.
In my opinion, gratitude is magic pill without swallowing a pill. I guess it’s just magic then 🙂
Gratitude, when practiced daily has a significant effect in your life. According toPsychology Today, a few benefits of practicing gratitude: it improves physical and psychological health, it helps you sleep better and increases mental strength.
To practice gratitude, write down 10 things you’re grateful for each day. This shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. If you do this every day, chances are you’ll have a better outlook in life, be more positive, and start feeling good about yourself.
Step out of your comfort zone
Every once in a while, try to get out of your comfort zone. As Neale Donald Walsch said,
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
One of my favorite books is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho where a shepherd decided to leave his hometown behind to find his treasure and personal legend. Leaving your comfort zone is where the magic happens. This is where you take risks and challenge yourself.
If you decide to stay where you are, you become stagnant. You miss out on what life can offer you. Then, one day you’ll wake up at 70 years old completely taken aback that you haven’t done much. Don’t let that happen to you.
Enjoy life daily in IRL
Enjoying your life as it happens is one of the secrets to living your life to the fullest. We are surrounded with technologies and social media around us. It’s not hard to be pulled into it every single minute of the day.
