February month recap
Wow, I can’t believe that the second month of the year is over. February was a mixture of relaxation and a whirlwind of activities.
Blogging & business: My goal for the first quarter of the year is to grow my email subscribers. For that reason, I added 2 more opt-ins on my site. After that, I focused on updating my Pinterest pins to reflect the current style I have on the site. I was really glad I did that because I see the growth in traffic on my site. At the end of February, I had a total of over 4k to my site and over 160 people subscribed to my email. That was mind-blowing! I couldn’t believe it.
Personal: There were days when I was able to relax in between projects. During those days, I binged watch on a few shows and ate more than I should’ve, lol. As for my routine, I was more lenient. I didn’t set timers but rather let my body dictate when to go to bed and when to wake up.
Relationship: What I also loved last month is my husband and I are becoming more intentional to set dates and have “us” time. Since we have been following a budget, we have been going to $5 movie Tuesdays and choosing more affordable restaurant options in LA.
Here are the following things I loved in the month of February:
Books & podcasts
Crazy Rich Asian Trilogy by Kevin Kwan– I used to profess that I wasn’t much for a fictional reader, but Kevin Kwan’s style of writing got me hooked. The movie Crazy Rich Asians was the reason I read all three books. This trilogy was part of my night routine, and I always looked forward to it. I couldn’t stop reading them. The stories were hilarious, juicy, and extravagant. I couldn’t put these books down!
Building a StoryBrand by Don Miller – This book was recommended by a friend. I’ve been meaning to read this book for a while now, but I was glad to have finally read it. This is such a great book to read when starting a business. In this book, you learn how to market to your audience by positioning them be the hero and your business as the guide.
Goal Digger Podcast – I love Jenna Kutcher! When I grow up, I want to be like her. She’s fun, transparent, humble and unapologetic in her social media. Her podcast Goal Digger is filled with motivating and inspiring episodes. I have listened to Episode 22: Become an Instagram Influencer with These Tips (Puno). They had great tips on how to grow your Instagram and why it’s okay that you don’t have to have millions of followers.
Course: I finished the course Make Money Blogging for Beginners by Create and Go. For someone who just began her journey on blogging, this course has been extremely helpful to keep me on track. In this course, the creators Alex and Lauren talked about different ways to make money off of a blog through affiliate marketing, email funnels, ads, sponsored posts and so much more! I’m really thankful to stumble across this course because it has helped my blog grow.
Isn’t It Romantic – I have to admit, I am a rom-com addict. I love happy endings. Natalie, played by Rebel Wilson got into an accident when her life turned upside down. She had the luxury apartment, a gay sidekick, a hot boyfriend, but still something was missing. Rebel Wilson was great in this movie and the choice of music is on point.
What Women Want – This romantic comedy movie with Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt is about a chauvinistic man who started hearing women’s voices. The movie was entertaining and got me laughing. I wasn’t sure why but I hesitated to watch this movie when my husband suggested it. He insisted that it was better than I thought. I had the feeling that I wasn’t going to like it. Instead, I really enjoyed it. Goes to show, give things a chance if someone thinks you’ll like it.
God Friended Me Season 1 – I love this show! In fact, I binge watched it. “God” befriended a guy name Miles on social media. Shortly after, “God” friend suggests random people that needed Miles’ help. This is a feel-good show and has helped me become more optimistic in my day to day life.
Home & organization
Black Zipper File Bags – These bags are so handy to have when traveling and for everyday purposes. I use the small pouches for my wires and pens whenever I work at coffee shops. The bigger pouches are great to store accessories like scarves or sunglasses whenever I travel.
Cable Organizer Boxes – I have tons of wires floating around from the laptops, tv, chargers, and so many others. These cable organizer boxes have kept the wires under wraps. I love that our place is neater because of this organizer. It comes with three different sizes so it’s perfect to use in any parts of the house!
Wool Dryer Balls – Gone are the days when I’ve used dryer sheets. First of all those dryer sheets are not environmentally friendly. They’re wasteful. These wool dryer balls are 100% wool and
Pink Marble Macbook Pro Cover – I am in love with this pink marble cover! I had an old one with the white and gray marble, however it fell apart. This one is perfect. I love seeing it every single time I use my laptop.
Gold Pens – These pens are wonderful. I love having these EVERYWHERE. They’re in all of my purses and pouches. It adds a bit of elegance and lux whenever I need a pen to write with. Plus, they write smoothly!
Lifestyle & beauty
100% Silk Pillowcase – I’ve been wanting to have a silk pillowcase but I’ve been seeing polyester pillowcases masking as silk! These are 100% Mulberry silk pillowcases and I absolutely love them! Silk pillowcases are great for preventing wrinkles unlike cotton pillowcases and they’re great for my wavy hair. I can see a big difference in my hair whenever I sleep on these vs. cotton!
Gua Sha Face Tool – I have learned about this recently. This gua sha face tool keeps your face firm by lifting and contouring as you glide it on your face and neck. Unlike other gua sha tools, these aren’t thin. They’re pretty weighty and they’re made from natural stones like Himalayan Jane and Royal Marble.
Epilator – I love my epilator! I no longer need to wax because this tool gives me salon-quality results but for a fraction of a price. It’s small enough to store and travel with me when needed. I’ve been using an epilator for 2+ years and haven’t gone back.
Mio Strawberry Watermelon – I have heard that I need to drink more water, yet drinking plain water hasn’t been the most appealing to me. Having Mio around has helped me triple the amount of water I drink. The Strawberry Watermelon is my favorite flavor. This is a major staple in my pantry!
London Fog Trench Coat – It has been really cold in LA the past few weeks and I’ve been living in my London Fog Trench! I absolutely love this trench coat because of its versatility. There
I’d love to hear from you
